    Taco Dip

Taco Dip is the quintessential McKeown family party staple. I think this has made an appearance at almost every party regardless of the season or event. Engagement party? Yep. Thanksgiving? Yep. Christmas? Definitely. The best part is that Rob loves it too; he almost immediately took to this dip. It is dangerous at parties since its so easy to eat; people can pretty easily forget that its so filling. The best part of this dip is how simple it is. It has three ingredients: cream cheese, salsa, and taco cheese. Once you have those three you simply layer them in that order. Its best to microwave the cream cheese for…

    Tzatziki

My husband’s family is of Greek decent, so he loves to experiment and make Greek dishes like Tzatziki.  Many of them are fairly simple (like this one), while others can be extremely complex (like pastitsio or spanikopita).  For Tzatziki, all you really need is garlic, cucumber, greek yogurt, lemon, and dill.  I always go with the fat free yogurt since it makes this a super healthy dip option.  The only prep work needed is to really mince the garlic and cucumber.  You can leave the cucumber a bit chunkier, but I prefer it a bit smoother. Tzatziki is one of the easiest recipes to throw together in a pinch and…

    Buffalo Chicken Dip

Buffalo Chicken Dip is a staple at my family’s parties.  I do not think I can remember a party that this didn’t make an appearance before dinner, from holidays to birthdays and game watches.  I love this because its super easy, can be made ahead, and reheats really well. The original recipe for this buffalo chicken dip involved canned chicken meat, but I have started substituting shredded rotisserie chicken for the canned stuff.  Honestly, I find that it adds a bit more flavor and just less processed than the can. The other great this about the dip is that the spiciness is totally adjustable.    Want it mild? Go…

    Roasted Red Pepper Hummus

I love hummus as a healthy snack.  What’s great is that it is so common and popular now it doesn’t feel like an odd thing to have at any party.  I’ve even seen it at parties for things like the super bowl now!  It is so versatile, you can vary up the dip itself like this one or provide a wide variety of what you dip in it like carrots, crackers, celery, etc.  Roasted Red Pepper is one of the most common varieties out there; likely because it makes for such a great flavor combination. Not only can you use it as a dip, you can spread hummus on sandwiches…
